Non-Toxic Dad News: April 23, 2026

Hello Non-Toxic Friends!

Warmer weather means greener lawns, kids playing barefoot, and pets spending more time outside. It is also the season when many yards get treated with chemicals like Roundup, often without realizing how those products can affect children, pets, wildlife, and the pollinators that keep our environment thriving. What lands on the weeds does not always stay there; residues can linger on grass, drift through the air, and make their way into soil and water.

At the same time, not every weed is a problem. Many so-called weeds actually support soil health and provide early food for bees and butterflies. This week, we are taking a closer look at the hidden risks of lawn chemicals, the surprising benefits of weeds, and sharing a simple, non-toxic weed killer recipe you can use with confidence around your family.

What’s happening

It was an honor to speak at the Health Experts Alliance in front of nearly 600 longevity-focused practitioners, including medical doctors from around the world, on how toxins can accelerate aging and why addressing them is such an important part of the longevity conversation. While there, I recorded several podcasts with leaders in the space, including Mark Sisson from Primal Nutrition (my favorite mayonnaise), Nathalie Lefevre, Diamond Fernandez, and Thomas Aksnes.

I also met Daymond John through the event, and most importantly, met many of you in person, people who have been watching, sharing, and using this information to make better decisions for yourselves and your families.

It was powerful to be surrounded by like-minded people, and to spend time with my brother-in-law, Dr. Isaac Jones, and his business partner, Josh Isaac, who put together such an incredible event.

And yes… I even met a hairless cat 😄

All in all, an amazing experience. But as good as it was, nothing beats being home with my kids and my family.

This story out of Keyport, New Jersey, stopped me in my tracks. One street, 28 cancer cases, and a landfill with a long history of toxic contamination sitting right next door. It raises serious questions about oversight, cleanup, and how long communities are expected to wait for action.

Click here to watch my recent IG reel where I break this down and share why this situation matters far beyond one neighborhood.

Mother’s Day is right around the corner. Get ahead of the rush by choosing thoughtful, non-toxic gifts that support the health and well-being of the moms you love.

Copper Water: The Ancient Practice Making a Comeback in Modern Health

Some health habits stick around for a reason. Long before stainless steel bottles and filtration systems became standard, traditional practices were already exploring ways to store and enhance water. Non-Toxic Tip of the Week

Protect Your Yard Without Toxic Chemicals

☐ 🚫 Avoid herbicides like Roundup; these chemicals can leave residues on grass and soil that children and pets absorb through their skin and hands
☐ 🧒 Keep play areas completely chemical-free, kids spend more time close to the ground where exposure risk is highest
☐ 🐾 Protect pets by maintaining a toxin-free lawn, animals groom themselves, and can ingest residues from treated surfaces
☐ 🐝 Support pollinators by refusing chemical weed killers; many herbicides harm bees, butterflies, and beneficial insects
☐ 🌧️ Prevent water contamination by keeping lawn chemicals out of your yard. Runoff can carry toxins into streams, ponds, and drinking water
☐ 🌿 Remove weeds manually using tools or hand-pulling. This is the safest and most reliable method for families seeking a non-toxic home
☐ 🍶 Use simple household solutions like vinegar-based sprays for hard surfaces such as driveways and sidewalk cracks
☐ 🌱 Focus on soil health with compost and natural amendments, healthy soil naturally reduces weed pressure over time
☐ 🌼 Allow some beneficial plants like clover or dandelions to grow where appropriate; they support soil health and provide food for pollinators
