Non-Toxic Dad News: April 04, 2024
Hello Non-Toxic Friends!
Welcome to this week’s edition of the Non-Toxic Dad newsletter. This week, we focus on a significant policy shift from one of America’s favorite fast-food chains, Chick-fil-A.
In a surprising move, Chick-fil-A has veered away from its longstanding commitment to serving chicken that adheres to the “no antibiotics ever” standard. The company has now adjusted its slogan to “no antibiotics important to human medicine,” which raises eyebrows and questions alike. The company attributes this alteration instance to the dwindling chicken supply, yet one cannot help but wonder if there are underlying motives not being shared with the public. Could this be a case of profit taking precedence over public health?
Chick-fil-A’s original position on antibiotics was commendable, especially in comparison to other fast-food giants, offering a slightly healthier option for consumers. However, this latest policy change seems to blur those lines, positioning them squarely among the rest in the industry where profit margins might just outweigh the health of their customers.
It’s a concerning development highlighting the ongoing struggle between corporate interests and consumer health. Join us as we explore what this means for you and your family, and how we can continue to make informed choices in a world where such compromises are becoming all too common. Learn more below, but first…

Non-Toxic Tip of the Week: Understanding and Avoiding Antibiotics in Your Food

The recent news about Chick-fil-A’s change in antibiotic policy poignantly reminds us to stay vigilant about the food we consume, particularly when it comes to antibiotics. Antibiotics in livestock can contribute to antibiotic resistance, a growing public health concern.
This week, we encourage you to take a proactive step towards cleaner eating by choosing meats labeled “no antibiotics ever.”. Additionally, consider supporting local farmers who raise animals without the use of antibiotics important to human medicine. These conscious choices can help protect your family’s health and contribute to a more sustainable food system.
Non-Toxic Recipe of the Week: Homemade Chick-fil-A

For those seeking a healthier twist on the classic Chick-fil-A nugget, here is a simple DIY recipe. This recipe shapes ground chicken into nuggets and uses a blend of spices for flavor, making it a perfect choice for a nutritious, family-friendly meal.
Ingredients:
1 pound organic (No Antibiotics EVER) ground chicken
2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
1 teaspoon organic paprika
1 teaspoon organic garlic powder
1 teaspoon organic onion powder
1/2 teaspoon sea salt
1/2 teaspoon organic black pepper
Organic coconut oil for cooking
Instructions:
Mix Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the ground chicken, Parmesan cheese, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all the ingredients are evenly distributed.
Shape Nuggets: Take small portions of the mixture and shape them into nuggets. If the mixture sticks to your hands, lightly wetting your hands can help make shaping easier.
Cook Nuggets:
Option 1: Airfry for 20 minutes until crispy
Option 2: Heat a skillet over medium heat and add a thin layer of coconut oil. Once the oil is hot, add the nuggets to the skillet, making sure not to overcrowd them. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
Drain: Once cooked, transfer the nuggets to a plate lined with paper towels to remove any excess oil.
Serve: Enjoy your healthy ground chicken nuggets with a side of fresh vegetables.
These homemade nuggets are a healthier alternative to fast-food options and are customizable to fit your family’s taste preferences. Enjoy crafting this nutritious meal that doesn't skimp on flavor!
